Wood powder as a biological fuel for production of asphalt

Wood powder as biological fuel for production of asphalt

Sustainable conversion from oil or gas to bio fuel

In Sweden, the energy and carbon dioxide taxes on fossil fuels have lead to that it is economically advantageous to invest in a conversion to renewable biofuels. At many asphalt production plants, biofuels have replaced oil or gas for heating the stone which then heats the asphalt mass to the desired temperature. This is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and thereby create sustainable production.

The biofuels used are often wood pellets or wood powder.

In Tomal’s deliveries, we can include a complete system consisting of wood pellets silo, grinder, filter, wood powder silo, metering equipment and pneumatic transport of the wood powder to the burner on the asphalt plant’s furnace.

Thanks to Tomal’s careful and uniform metering, you get a combustion without pulsations. This results in very efficient heating and low emissions of NOx and CO.
